The Day WAR stood still

October 21, 2008

Today my Warhammer subscription officially lapsed. That means, my toons will be on cold storage until I decide to come back, whenever that will be.
I’ve followed Warhammer since the dawn of code. My Beta account was created as one of the triple-digit ones, I’ve played through the first and second iteration of the UI, watched [...]

Learning Good Interviewing by looking at the worst in a while

October 8, 2008

Every once in a while someone asks me to give her or him some pointers on how to score and conduct interviews with game makers. Most PR folk are actually hot to talk to you about their game, how it came to be, and how it stands right now. That’s because - and that’s unlike [...]

Si non tacuisses etiam

October 7, 2008

Of life’s greatest mysteries one befuddles me to no end. No, I think I can leave Quantum Mechanics to the experts and all I need to know about the beginning of life has to do with contraceptives and how to assist delivery if I ever get stuck in traffic while driving a taxicab.
My mystery has [...]

More on Warhammer bleeding into WoW

October 6, 2008

I’ve talked about this on end before, but figured I’d spend some more time comparing and contrasting changes to WoW since the early beta releases of Warhammer. Beginning with 2.3 or so, I noticed some changes to the game echoing ongoing Warhammer developments but couldn’t say much, Beta NDA and all that. Now, with Warhammer [...]

Cross-Server Scenario Queues and You

October 5, 2008

How, my friends? Let me count the ways…
Cross-server queues will exascerbate the already [...]

Real reasons you don’t get healed. Part 94.

October 4, 2008

Some may remember this post in response to Kirk’s post on Priestly Endeavors. After a few weeks in WAR I guess I can confidently state the some of the reasons you don’t get healed by me…

Part 94: The Greedy Needy
It doesn’t take much to act semi-mature in MMORPGs. The Greedy Needy, however, reveals his or [...]

Warhammer Online: Patch 1.01

October 2, 2008

This is still not a fan site. Warhammer is the new MMO on the block, and listening to/learning from its lauch and beta process was a great experience. As the game becomes more and more a mainstream game, I might meander off, but for the time being …
Here’s Patch 1.01
Players no longer need to scroll [...]

Gief Bonus, Kthxbai!

October 2, 2008

Want to know how to balance populations? Give sides/servers with low population problems bonuses to Influence/Renown/XP for a week. So, say, Marienburg has a low pop in general and very low pop on Order. Give Order players there a brief population boost of, say, 20 per cent to the three above and Destruction a briefer [...]
