Seems like everyone is using one or another HDR stitcher and their camera’s built-in EV bracketing to get some funny looking images up on the web. Don’t. HDR is a great tool to expand an image’s natural range and to work around the simple shortcomings of how a camera “sees” the world, but it’s not an artistic tool. The above image was shot, RAW processed, and Noise Ninjaed - no HDR, no saturation trickery, no “fill light” jokes in Lightroom or CS3. Doesn’t look too bad for that, does it? (Check the large version for a better look)
bacon-crusted, deep fried, foie gras icecream
Not HDR
